Able to commit to two to four weekday, daytime presentations per year. Presentation are around 1 to 1.5 hours with a question period following.
About the Role
As part of our Mission to support clients facing economic barriers, and to improve employment opportunities through small business and professional development loans, the Speaker Series provides a forum to:
Deliver financial management/ workshops to ensure people are better informed to manage their money and credit.
Deliver a range of small business focused presentations to help entrepreneurs achieve greater success in developing, managing and growing their businesses.
In this role, you will design and deliver business or finance related presentations and workshops relevant to the specific needs of the diverse cultural and socio-economic clients we serve. Topics should be relevant for small business and new entrepreneurs and may include financial literacy, business planning, operations, marketing, social media, sales and technology keeping in mind the background and challenges our clients may be experiencing. Our workshop presenters work in collaboration with our Program Coordinator and may co-present depending on the session.
ACCESS provides input to our workshop presenters on general training topics that would be relevant to the needs of our clients. We however rely on the expertise of each volunteer to develop and design the individual training sessions.
Related Skills & Experience
Experience as an entrepreneur or intrapreneur or in a business environment
Experience delivering business or financial workshops for small business and the general public.
Strong communication, interpersonal & networking skills.
Public speaking and presentation.
Experience working with diverse cultural and socio-economic groups.
Second language an asset.
Be available to present at daytime, weekday events.
ACCESS is a registered charitable organization that helps people facing economic barriers in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) to obtain low-interest loans of up to $5,000 for small business and professional development. Loan applicants are evaluated using a character-based lending model, where the abilities, plans, skills and commitment of the applicant are key decision criteria.
Our clients encompass under-served and marginalized communities such as visible minorities, newcomers, women and others that face barriers to realizing their goals of self-employment and meaningful employment. ACCESS supports loan applicants and clients through consultation, coaching, referrals and resources.
